Character Education Institute
The Character Education Institute provides character education to Cal U students, faculty and staff, as well as regional organizations and businesses. It was formed in 1995 in response to Emphasis on Values, a report produced by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education urging its universities to give increased attention to values. The institute also serves as a resource center to prepare education majors for their unavoidable role as character educators, and assists school districts and local organizations in advancing character development.
Leadership Training for Businesses
Many businesses have adopted the principles outlined by author Dr. Stephen R. Covey in his influential book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," as a way to build employee skills. Cal U has partnered with FranklinCovey to bring this extraordinary training to local companies. The University establishes partnerships with businesses and organizations to provide leadership and principle-based training and consulting services. As a result, participating organizations establish endowed scholarships at the University. Learn more.
