Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences

To advance the University mission of "Building Character, Building Careers" of students, the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences will facilitate the fundamental understanding of the biological basis of life and provide bachelor's degree programs that promote excellence in your academic and professional development.

We offer a wide variety of majors and concentrations. You may decide to pursue the B.S. in biology, the pre-professional track, a nanotechnology track, or one of several tracks in the B.S. in environmental studies. If you're interested in teaching, you may choose the B.S.Ed in biology. A cooperative program allows students to pursue a career in mortuary science. We also offer minors in biology and environmental studies.

Career Opportunities in Biological and Environmental Sciences

With a degree in this field, you'll be prepared for graduate work in biology and related fields, industrial and government research, and careers in public health and the many health-related fields. A steady demand exists for environmental scientists, wildlife biologists, fishery biologists, environmental monitoring technicians and interpretative naturalists.
