Special Education

The Department of Special Education, accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, offers career-focused programs that lead to a Pennsylvania Instructional I teaching certificate. Students who complete a baccalaureate program in special education are licensed to teach children with cognitive disabilities, learning disabilities, emotional problems and multiple physical disabilities.

Students may choose one of two dual majors. You will become certified to teach special education and either elementary education or early childhood education. We also offer a master's degree in special education.
