Department of Communication Studies

The Department of Communication Studies offers courses and activities designed to foster a greater understanding of human communication as it transpires at various levels of human interaction and in a variety of social and cultural contexts.  Our program is academically rich with course offerings in Media and Culture, Public Relations, Radio and Television, Organizational Communication, Rhetoric and Public Address, and Interpersonal and Group Communication. Our undergraduate curriculum requires students to take a shared "core" of key communication courses in history, theory and criticism while allowing for concentrations in Radio and Television, Public Relations and Speech Communication.

Career Opportunities

In addition to broadcast journalism and public relations, Communication Studies graduates can obtain positions in management training programs, and as speech writers and salespeople. An undergraduate major or minor in Communication Studies is an asset for careers in law, religion, education, labor relations, politics, marketing, and human resource development.
