Department of History and Political Science
THE DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY and POLITICAL SCIENCE WELCOMES YOU TO CALU!
This "hub" will act as your tour guide through the department and the many academic programs, institutions, and organizations that are part of our family.
The Department of History and Political Science is responsible for programs at the undergraduate level. History and political science are closely related disciplines that use the past to understand the present and the future. The department's mission is to encourage literate, critical thinking by students who work with faculty engaged in diverse, broadly-based scholarships. The faculty strive to mentor and develop students as they build character and careers. Additionally, we offer a degree in International Studies and a minor in women's studies. The International Studies program prepares students not only to be professionals in their fields, but also to become intellectually well-rounded individuals with a deep appreciation for other people’s cultures in order to live and participate in the global village of today’s world. Our minor in women’s studies provides you with a framework for examining women’s and men’s lives within individual, familial, national and global systems. Employers often prioritize hiring candidates who appreciate and respect diversity and who are able to successfully work with diverse populations. Come visit us in Manderino Library 440.
