Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy is responsible for the bachelor's degree and minor programs at the undergraduate level. As a student in our department, you will study the historical development of theories about the nature of knowledge, reality and values, and learn how to assess such theories. You'll develop abilities to think logically, explore issues from different perspectives and present your ideas effectively in writing.

As a philosophy major, you will be well-suited for any career that values critical reasoning, logical problem-solving and an ability to look at issues from many perspectives. Philosophy majors go on to a variety of careers: law, ministry, teaching, civil service and management, to name a few. Increasingly, the business world is looking for this kind of liberally educated person.
