Biography

Dr. Smith is the author of "Failing Justice: Charles Evans Whittaker on the Supreme Court" (McFarland, 2005). He also contributed chapters to books on Supreme Court justices and their law clerks and public reactions to Supreme Court school prayer decisions. His research on Justice Tom Clark led to articles for the Journal of Supreme Court History on Clark's selection of law clerks and congressional investigations of Clark's service as attorney general. He is currently working on a new biography of Justice Clark.
