Professor Ribar is a native of Colombia, South America, where she did her undergraduate studies majoring in secondary education. After teaching in the British and Colombian educational systems, she immigrated to the United States, where she completed her graduate studies in Spanish literature and language at Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh. She developed an interest in Hispanic culture, and, while at California University of Pennsylvania, has designed a very popular course series of 12 individual Spanish Culture courses. Professor Ribar has taught many of these courses while also initiating an intensive Spanish study abroad program, in which students travel abroad to live daily life with a host family while taking intensive courses in the Spanish language.
