Dr. Evanick's nursing journey began when she graduated from Carlow University in Pittsburgh with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began as a graduate nurse in a busy cardiothoracic intensive care unit, and this is her clinical specialty, one she truly enjoys.

After practicing as a bedside nurse in the ICU for several years, she decided to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing from Waynesburg University. She was devoted to a special concentration in Nursing Education and while obtaining this degree, she began her teaching career. She has 10 years of teaching experience, and she has taught in diploma schools, community colleges and universities.

After finishing her doctoral degree, she began working in management as the director of capacity management and nursing support services at UPMC while concurrently teaching online as a visiting professor for Chamberlain College of Nursing. Most recently, she has pursued an interest in nursing informatics and worked with a local software and robotics engineering company, developing medical simulation products and teaching nursing professors across the country about electronic health records and the incorporation of this data within their curriculum.
