Patricia Davies, DPN, RN has held positions in the clinical, administrative and education domains of the nursing profession. Clinically, Davies' background is in high acuity and critical care nursing, having held positions as a Medical-Surgical and Critical Care Clinical Nursing Specialists at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Her administrative positions have included director of quality and patient safety at Kindred Hospital and unit director in coronary care at Butler Memorial Hospital. Davies has amassed both leadership and teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs including director of the MSN program at Waynesburg University, director of the ASN program at the Pittsburgh Technical Institute, and faculty positions at University of Pittsburgh, Carlow University and Waynesburg University.

Research Interests

Dr. Patricia Davies is interested in the integration of simulation based teaching and evaluation strategies in both undergraduate and graduate nursing education. She has experience in developing and directing the Simulation Lab in the nursing program at the Pittsburgh Technical Institute. In that position, she authored and directed a $150,000 grant awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry for developing and implementing a high fidelity nursing simulation program.

Service Learning Projects

Dr. Davies is a BLS instructor for the American Heart Association and is currently responsible for conducting Heartsaver and AED classes for her church. In addition, Dr. Davies performs community outreach at the Streetlight Café in Tarentum, Pa., where she conducts health screening and health promotion education to the community.
