Applied Behavior Analysis

Classes begin Summer & Spring

Board certified behavior analysts address the behavioral and instructional needs of individuals in a wide variety of settings.  Applied Behavior Analysis is recognized as a "best practice" for the instruction and behavioral management for individuals with exceptionalities.

Cal U offers three Applied Behavior Analysis programs:

MEd in Special Education (autism track):  Applied Behavior Analysis (33-39 credits)

  • Earn a Master’s while becoming BCBA
  • Simultaneously earn a Certificate in Autism with approved courses
  • 33 credits required without Intensive Practicum
  • 39 credits required with Intensive Practicum

MEd in Special Education (general track):  Applied Behavior Analysis (33-39 credits)

  • Earn a Master’s while becoming BCBA
  • 33 credits required without Intensive Practicum
  • 39 credits required with Intensive Practicum

Board Certified Behavior Analyst Preparation Certificate (18-27 credits)

  • If you already have a Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis or an approved academic area
  • If you meet the BCBA degree requirements, you can enroll in the prep course

ABA Program Benefits:

  • Legislation has been passed requiring insurers to provide coverage for the treatment of autism. Hence, creating the demand of BCBA certified professional.
  • Qualify to apply for the Behavior Specialist license in Pennsylvania.
  • BCBA certified professionals are recognized in a variety of states as an approved provider of services for individuals diagnosed with autism.
  • Full-time students may apply for financial aid and balance work, life and the pursuit of education.
  • Complete these programs, attending full-time, in just four semesters.
  • Preparation for the BCBA exam.
  • The flexibility in coursework to also earn teacher’s certification in special education, autism endorsement (if already certified in special education), elementary education, or secondary education while dual enrolled in the programs.
  • Practicum experience supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (for intensive practicum students).
