Master of Science: Communication Disorders

Classes begin Fall Semester

The Master of Science in communication disorders program provides you with specialized training in all areas of communication disorders. The master's education program in speech-language pathology at California University of Pennsylvania is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.

As a graduate of this program, you will be qualified to provide clinical services to individuals of all ages in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, government agencies and private practice.

We offer excellent facilities, including a large clinic and a Language and Learning Enrichment Center located within the department, along with a technologically advanced Communication Science Laboratory.

Success Stories

Lori LaPataka

Lori LaPataka, who earned her Master of Science degree in communication disorders in 2008, is currently working as a speech-language clinician in the Gateway School District in Monroeville, Pa.  Prior to joining the faculty at Gateway, Lori obtained clinical experiences at the Children’s Institute, Health South Harmarville and the Gateway School District.  Lori’s primary area of research at Cal U involved Traditional vs. Naturalistic Speech Therapy Assignments. Her other area of interest is the emergent language skills of children. Lori continues to focus her work on school-based issues, articulation and language disorders, and autism. She finds working as a speech-language clinician with school-aged children to be extremely rewarding!
