60+CAP (College Advantage Program)

The College Advantage Program enables Pennsylvania residents, ages 60 and older, to take college courses tuition-free. This program offers a low-cost way to take classes for personal enrichment or pursue a degree.

You may elect to take a class and receive a grade, or simply audit a course. If you decide to audit a course, you will not receive a grade or credit. The course will be listed on your transcript without affecting your quality point average. Once you register to audit a course, it cannot be converted to a credit course.

Are there any costs?

You are required to pay the University activity fees and application fee ($25). You are also responsible for the purchase of books and educational materials for your courses.

How many classes can be taken each semester?

60+ CAP participants may register for between one and 18 credits each semester. You may register for up to 21 credits with special approval.

Success Stories

"Without a moment's hesitation I would recommend going back to college, at any stage of your life.  I returned 39 years after graduation from high school, never having attended college before.  I was rather reluctant and feared all sorts of problems: not being able to do the work, feeling totally out of place, etc. All my worries were unfounded. It turned out to be one of the greatest decisions of my life. Approaching college as an older adult puts it into an entirely new perspective. The courses are incredibly interesting, the professors are more than helpful, and to the students themselves - age makes no difference. I've learned that we are all there at the same level, taking the same classes and having the same experiences. I wouldn't trade it for anything."
