Course Descriptions
Agile Robots
Learn how to build and program a robot. Participants will use the VEX robotics system to learn about mechanics, electronic circuits, control circuits, actuators, and microcontrollers. Learn how to use C-based programming to enable your robot to exectue a task challenge. You will work in teams during the week and the learning focus will be on the projects.
Mechatronics
Explore the integration of mechanical components, electronics, and computer technology as you build an automated work cell using industry standard pneumatic actuators and switches. Learn industry jargon and gain an understaning of pneumatic circuits. Work with programmable logic controllers to control a complex mechanical system.
Rapid Prototyping
Discover how to use 3-D Parametic Software to design a gripper or hand for your robot. Participants will use a rapid prototype machine to make useable parts. You will assemble the parts of the gripper and finally attach it to your robot. Problem solving and teamwork will be emphasized throughout the process.
Animatronics
Animatronics is used in moviemaking and the theme park industry. With this in mind, come explore a blending of art and technology as you work to design an animatronics system. This class employs the use of skills from multiple disciplines, including robotics, art, and mechatronics. You will use a variety of materials to cover your mechatronic devices, making the project realistic and lifelike.
Other Information
Students should bring a bag lunch. Refrigeration is not available. Please alert staff to any food allergies.
Room locations will be included in your confirmation letter, which you will receive when your registration is processed.
