California University of Pennsylvania has designed a Seminar course or Internship experience for students in the Sociology Deviance Concentration. Students have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom in real world situations or placements within social service fields, probation and/or corrections settings, and educational environments.  Students will have the opportunity to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of various educational, governmental and social services programs all the while gaining experience and confidence in preparing for the workplace.

Students will effectively manage a project, designing the solution and effectively communicating it to faculty and business partners.

Experiential Placement Sites:

  • Local, regional and national and international sites

The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology: Deviance concentration prepares students to become effective professionals in diverse and challenging fields, including:

  • Mental health services
  • Drug and alcohol services
  • Child and youth services
  • Corrections and/or probation
  • Education
  • Veterans affairs
  • Community reintegration and treatment
