Spanish for Law Enforcement Letter of Completion
The Letter of Completion in Spanish for Law Enforcement is specifically designed to meet the needs of law-enforcement officers, correctional officers, public and private security personnel, and for those students seeking employment in a relevant field. To successfully complete the letter of completion, students must take all four courses regardless of their preexisting level of Spanish. Courses are offered in accelerated 8-week sessions that fall within a regular 16-week semester. For example, Elementary Spanish I and Elementary Spanish II are offered in one semester and Intermediate Spanish I and Spanish for Law Enforcement are offered in the subsequent semester. This way, the student completes the entire letter of completion in one academic year. Students will learn basic practical language skills that will assist them as criminal justice practitioners in a number of situations such as law-enforcement commands and dealing with suspects, victims, and witnesses; prison populations; and border and immigration issues. Students will also learn about Hispanic culture and customs so they can better understand the needs of members of their communities.
