Cal U’s Master’s degree in Forensic Linguistics is one-of-a-kind in the United States. On the forefront of solving crime, the M.A. in Forensic Linguistics enjoys broad appeal both within and outside the legal and criminal justice fields to include: offender profiles; threat and risk analysis; authorship analysis and authentication in historical research; sociological analysis; and academic plagiarism.
The topics include areas such as Sociolinguistics; Criminological Theory; and Legal and Ethical Issues surrounding the topic of Forensic Linguistics. We combine our expertise in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to the subject matter from legal, sociological, psychological, and criminological perspectives. Together with our partners in the relevant professions, California University of Pennsylvania professors are uniquely positioned to offer graduate-level programs in Forensic Linguistics with a projected start of Fall 2012. Students with bachelor’s degrees in English, linguistics, criminology, sociology, criminal justice, and psychology are particularly suited for the M.A. in Forensic Linguistics, but the completion of any undergraduate degree will be acceptable.
