Accounting: Internships and Careers
Cal U offers students in the accounting program a practicum with public accounting firms, government or industry. You’ll need to have 18 credits in accounting and permission of the instructor who is overseeing the practicum in the semester you plan to take it. This opportunity allows you to experience the professional work environment as part of your academic preparation. You’ll receive practical experience in applying the accounting knowledge and skills you’ve learned.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of accountants is expected to grow 10% to 20% through the year 2010. Career opportunities include positions such as accountant, auditor, tax accountant, cost management accountant, public accountant and accounting consultant. Cal U prepares you to enter the workforce with knowledge, integrity, character and experience. With the help of the Career and Professional Development Center, we'll connect you to potential employers through networking events, job shadowing opportunities, on-campus recruiting, job and internship fairs, and organizational visits.
