Early Childhood Education Services: Internships and Careers
Students in the early childhood services program will complete a six-credit internship (about 20 hours per week) that will introduce them to career opportunities of an educational nature, such as child day care, classroom aide, docent, program planner, team-based trainer, exhibit development, Web design and research.
Our students have completed internships in settings such as day care centers, Head Start centers, nursery schools, libraries, museums and YMCAs.
Career prospects for the education services graduates are encouraging. Potential employers include adoption agencies, tutorial learning organizations, community recreation centers, camps, publishers, school service supply companies and child abuse centers. Students with undergraduate degrees in these fields are also prepared to pursue advanced study in a variety of disciplines.
