Field experiences supplement the academic components of a commercial music technology (CMT) education by providing hands-on experience.
After learning in a classroom setting, students apply their knowledge in practical situations on campus and throughout the community.
CMT field experiences may include:
- Running sound for a live performing ensemble, such as the Cal Jazz Ensemble.
- Running as many as 20 body microphones for a live theatrical performance.
- Running sound for speaker engagements at a conference or sporting event in the Cal U Convocation Center, which seats nearly 6,000.
- Conducting postproduction work on a studio recording.
