Psychology: Curriculum
The B.A. in psychology is a career-oriented course of study that can accommodate both full- and part-time students, students with or without professional experience, and incoming freshmen and transfer students. We also offer students a general
degree with a scientific foundation that enables students to pursue a wide
variety of careers and advanced study and a minor in psychology. Also,
there is room in our curriculum for a minor in another, compatible field such
as Art, Business, Biology, Management, Mathematics, Philosophy, or Women’
Studies, just to name a few.
Psychology is one of the social/behavioral sciences engaged in the systematic study of behavior and mental processes. The coursework focuses on the study and explanation of patterns of individual behavior, thoughts, and emotions. It does so from a variety of perspectives that emphasize intrapersonal and interpersonal, social and physiological factors.
Within the psychology program, we recommend taking 15 credits (five courses) from one of these areas of specializations: clinical/counseling, social/applied, educational/school psychology or cognitive/experimental.
