- Business owners and employers
- Educators and school district administrators
- Law enforcement and social service professionals
- Conference and event organizers
- General public
Business Owners and Employers
Cal U is an important institution for the region's business owners and employers. Companies find qualified new employees and co-op students through Cal U's Career Services. The Internship Center helps employers set up internship opportunities. And the Cal U Career Network links today's business leaders with the region's future leaders through mentoring and networking.
The University offers extensive workforce development and training for local businesses as well as a Government Agency Coordination Office, which helps owners pursue federal, state and local contracting and subcontracting and export opportunities.
Recognizing the importance of agriculture to the region, the University serves local farmers and landowners through the California University of Pennsylvania Partners for Fish and Wildlife.
Educators
Cal U has been educating the region's teachers since 1852. Among the many current initiatives for local educators, administrators and school districts is the Library of Congress Teaching With Primary Sources project, which helps schools in the 12th Congressional District use digitized primary source materials available from the Library of Congress.
Cal U's Center for Excellence in Elementary Science and Math Education is teaching early childhood educators to create lessons that connect children with science and nature, among other projects.
And in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, Cal U's Manderino Library houses lesson plans and images from the National Gallery and lends educational packets to educators throughout the region. Read more about Cal U's services to area educators.
Law Enforcement and Social Service Professionals
Cal U's Institute of Criminological and Forensic Sciences serves police officers, detectives, district attorneys, coroners and public defenders by providing services through a team of professional criminologists and forensic, behavioral and legal scientists.
The University's Institute for Law and Public Policy is dedicated to the study and analysis of legal issues that affect the community and the professionals who serve its citizens. The institute provides continuing education for justice professionals including police, lawyers, corrections personnel, human service workers, professional security specialists and judicial personnel.
Cal U's Child and Family Institute serves as a clearinghouse for families, educators and policymakers. Developed by Cal U's Psychology Department, the institute studies issues facing area youth and families, and it disseminates the information to parents, educators, policymakers and health care professionals.
Conference and Meeting Organizers
Local businesses and community organizations turn to Cal U as the site for conferences and meetings.
