Civic Engagement

Center for Civic Engagement
The Center for Civic Engagement’s mission is to inspire students, faculty, staff and alumni to leave a legacy by taking action to fulfill their civic and philanthropic responsibility while becoming agents of change through their experiences in the community, with peers, and amongst those in need.
The Center serves as a catalyst for students to connect with, build, and sustain meaningful service initiatives in partnership with communities surrounding California University. Students enhance their learning and leadership development by engaging in educationally purposeful and diverse co-curricular experiences through AmeriCorps and other volunteer opportunities. Using the new Civic Engagement Online System, students are encouraged to search for upcoming service projects. Also, students must self-report to track completed hours of service.
Civic engagement is an integral component to the CalU for Life initiative as it works to help you build both character and careers. Being able to give selflessly of your time as well as your talents to others in need is not only a gift to them, but to yourself as well. Treasure is measured not only in what we give but also in what we provide to other charitable efforts in our community.

Record Service Hours
After completing your service hours, you will need to self-report to track completed service projects. At the end of each month, the information will be added to your activities transcript. If you are applying for scholarships and/or jobs and need service projects added to your activities transcript, please log your service hours in advance so there is enough time for processing.
