Notes

Cal U’s general education program menus are updated on an ongoing basis.  Students entering the University under this catalog will be able to satisfy general education requirements by using courses added to menus in subsequent years without being required to change to a new catalog.

General education courses may include any courses in a student’s career, including major courses. Major courses included on a general education menu may be used to satisfy that goal.  When external accreditation agencies require specific competencies, departments may advise students to take specific courses included on a menu to complete the goal.  Students should contact their adviser or department chair for information on such requirements.

No more than three courses with the same prefix can be used to satisfy a student’s general education courses (ENG 101, 102, 211 and 217 do not count toward this restriction).

Any required course within a general education goal (e.g., UNI 100, ENG 101, ENG 102) that is failed must be retaken by the student and a passing grade earned for the course. Students should retake such courses as soon as possible.

Students must complete appropriate developmental courses or satisfy other prerequisites prior to completing a course listed on a general education menu.
