NUR330 - Phil Prof Nur
Focusing on theoretical frameworks for professional nursing practice, this course includes an introduction to the nursing process and general systems theory. Assignments help students develop and apply a personal philosophy of professional nursing, and to independently plan appropriate interventions for multicultural clients of all ages. Prerequisite. NUR350 - Health Assessment
Provides opportunity for the student to develop and practice beginning level skills in the use of data-gathering methods and techniques for the health assessment of individuals throughout the developmental life span. Emphasis is on history taking and physical assessment of adults using a systems approach, focusing on variations in approach, variations across cultures, and variations in findings at different stages of development. NUR370 - Mthds Nur Research
Basic concepts and methods related to the research process are covered. Opportunity is provided for the development of critical-thinking and decision-making skills needed by the professional nurse to analyze and evaluate research findings for application to practice. NUR375 - Ldrshp & Change Nsg
This course enhances leadership skills through analysis of theories/concepts and experiential exercises. Practicums provide for application of general systems theory in critical analysis of situations and decision-making within the practice of nursing to meet emerging health needs of consumers. NUR410 - Research Utiliz Nsg
This course differentiates between conducting research and research utilization. Through participation in research utilization activities, students learn to synthesize research-based knowledge into applicable protocols of care and to utilize research on an organizational level. Prerequisite: NUR 370. (2 crs.) Spring.
NUR450 - Trends & Issues Nsg
This course involves analysis of professional nursing as well as bioethical issues from historical and contemporary viewpoints with implications for professional nursing practice in the health care delivery system. Prerequisite: BSN status. (3 crs.) Fall.
NUR470 - Family Health Nursg
An introduction to the theory and practice of family nursing, this course reviews selected family and nursing theories to provide the basis for serving families as units as well as family subsystems and individual family members. Clinical experiences will focus on assessment and care of families for health promotion, restoration and/or rehabilitation. Prerequisite. BSN status. (6 crs.: 3 crs. theory, 3 crs. clinical) Fall.
NUR475 - Community Hlth Nurs
This course focuses on the synthesis of theories from nursing and the public health sciences with emphasis on improving the health of the community by identifying subgroups that are at risk.
