Don't Stress Out About Math
Are you having trouble in math or a math-related course or just generally feeling math anxiety? We can help. Come to Cal U's Math Lab and develop new skills and strategies to become successful. The Math Lab offers:
- Peer tutoring
- Math anxiety help and reference books
Math and Math-Related Tutoring
Tutoring is available in all undergraduate math subjects. The one-on-one sessions are arranged to fit your schedule and generally last 30 minutes each. Before the tutoring time, you should attempt the homework and come prepared with specific questions. This will help the tutor identify specific problems you are having in the course.
In addition to math tutoring, the lab offers help in math-related areas including physics, computer science, computer information systems, electrical engineering technology and the business course Analytical Methods, as well as Praxis help and math placement test study sessions. If you are taking a course that is math based, even if it is not in these primary areas, there is a good possibility the Math Lab can provide some level of tutoring support.
We also offer help for math anxiety, which can affect up to 50 percent of students, according to one national study. Math-anxious students have physiological symptoms. Students having headaches or stomachaches appearing only in math environments can discuss this with the Math Lab director.
