Prior Learning Assessment

The PLA program is currently under significant revision. We are developing new policy and procedures to make the process better for both the student and the reviewer. We hope to have this finalized in the early part of Spring 2013

Are You Eligible for Prior Learning Experience Credit?

Prior learning assessment is a process that allows certain students to gain credit for learning acquired through experience.  Qualifying experience could be work, military training, personal educational growth, volunteer work and independent study.  Credit is awarded when a student is able to demonstrate transferable learning; that is, knowledge that can be applied to a new or different situation.  This program, recently piloted at Cal U, requires an understanding of theoretical concepts involved in the learning experience and additional reading.
