The Cal U Writing Center provides free face-to-face and online writing assistance to Cal U students—undergraduate and graduate—in all academic majors and programs. Our trained undergraduate and graduate student writing consultants work with writers one-to-one and in small groups in order to help them extend their ability to write effectively for a variety of audiences and purposes.
Through dialogue and reflection, consultants and writers develop strategies that writers can use to draft, revise, and edit their work. While writing consultants don't copyedit or proofread student papers, they will work closely with students as they learn strategies (including editing and proofreading) for improving their own writing through revision. The Cal U Writing Center also offers computer access, a writing resource library, and informative handouts about writing.
In addition to offering individual writing assistance, the Cal U Writing Center also provides student workshops on writing-related topics and works closely with faculty members to support student writing in specific courses.
