Autumn Benjamin

Autumn is an English Literature major with a minor in Communication Studies. She hopes to pursue a career as an editor, and is therefore very excited to be working at the writing center. Autumn sings in the Cal U choir, where she serves as treasurer, as well as in Cal U's co-ed a capella group, Isolated Incident. She is the 2017-2018 Editor for Cal U's chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta and is a member of the University Honor's Program. She loves reading and analyzing written works, and she particularly enjoys reading Shakespeare. 

Monica Flickinger

Monica is a junior studying English with concentrations in Creative Writing and Journalism. She has over 2 years of experience in many writing and editorial roles. She hopes to enter the workforce in an editorial position after graduation. She is the Vice President for Cal U’s chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Monica is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and is a mentor in the Cal U Peer Mentoring program. She is a proud member of Phi Sigma Sigma and serves as the Philanthropy and Ritual chair of the Epsilon Tau chapter. She is passionate about writing poetry and reading investigative news stories.

Beth Bergstedt

Beth is attending graduate school, pursuing a MBA in Healthcare Management and is also the Graduate Assistant for the Writing Center.  She received her BA in Speech Communications from York College of Pennsylvania and has worked in a variety of HR and Compliance roles before deciding to go back to school full-time.  She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, especially her feisty two year old daughter. 

Katylyn Furlong

Katlyn is an English major with a focus in Creative Writing. She plans on getting her doctorate and going on to become English professor. She is a member of the Honors Program and also works part time as a secretary. In her free time she participates in The Underground Cafe where she sometimes performs slam poetry. Along with writing, Katlyn is also an avid reader. She enjoys anything from mythology to philosophy, but more than anything, poetry.  

Dr. Brent House

Dr. House is a native of Hancock County, Mississippi, where prior to his years in higher education, he was a farmer who raised cattle and watermelon on his family farm. His father, John Bunyon House, was an avid reader when he was away from the fields, and as a result, Dr. House was influenced to begin a career in English Studies. He still misses his life on the farm, and he will return to farming when he retires from his teaching life, but until then, he finds that farming and teaching are similar crafts, and he enjoys planting knowledge in the minds of his students at Cal U. Dr. House received his B.A. in English from William Carey College, his M.F.A from Georgia College & State University, and his Ph.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He has been teaching at Cal U since 2013, and became the Director of the Writing Center in 2016.

Kevin Jenkins

Kevin is a secondary education major. He is a writer who knows what it takes to know what it takes. Foremost, he is an adept grammarian, though he is just as at home brainstorming ideas for creative writing as he is assisting with MLA formatting. Kevin prefers durability and functionality over fashionability. 

Brittany Kach

Brittany is a sophomore studying Business Management with a concentration in Accounting. So far her minor is undeclared, but she hopes to double minor in Finance and Economics. She is a member of the University Honors Program as well as Alpha Lambda Delta. Brittany is a commuter who lives in Bethel Park and enjoys discovering new music on her drive to school. She hopes to reach out to fellow Business majors and help them become better writers.

Lindsay Kastroll

Lindsay is a Psychology major with minors in Sociology and Spanish in the University Honors Program. She is a senior here at CalU and is planning on attending graduate school to obtain a doctorate in clinical psychology after graduation. Lindsay is well versed in research papers (specifically in APA format) and fiction, though she has had experience with many other types of writing. She also runs the social media accounts for the University Honors Program and the Writing Center. She is an avid fan of authors Kurt Vonnegut and Jane Austen and enjoys discussing dinosaurs and playing Minecraft mods in her free time.

Alexis Klaproth

Alexis is a communication disorders major and hopes to work in a classroom setting with elementary school children. She participates in a variety of on-campus activities; she is the Quidditch Club treasurer, plays saxophone and clarinet in multiple university ensembles, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and is a member of the University Honors Program. Her favorite things in life include Harry Potter, roller coasters, peanut butter, and spending time with friends and family.

Kacie Kubitza

Kacie is a secondary education major who plans to teach English and mold the young minds of high school students in her future. She enjoys dancing and performing in the Cal U Theatre Department’s musicals.  She also enjoys watching movies, listening to music, reading, and spending time with friends. Kacie considers poetry to be her writing specialty. However, she is also an expert in MLA format for essays and research papers.

Taylor Soto

Taylor is a Finance major with a minor in Accounting and Management. Thus specializing in business related writings.  This December she plans to graduate a semester early and pursue a career in the Financial Services Industry with Prudential Financial. In her free time, Taylor is a student athlete and plays on the Women's Volleyball Team.  She is also involved in Finance Club and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Sabrina Zitzelberger

Sabrina is a Psychology major and Creative Writing minor who plans on pursuing a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling after graduating from Cal U this winter. She presented a research paper in Memphis earlier this year and has had some success in publishing her fiction. While she hasn't memorized the APA handbook, she can search the OWL like a boss and help you cite that youtube clip correctly. Sabrina lives in Finleyville with her amazing husband, wonderful son, and two cats that are way too loud. During her free time (ha!) she reads, games, and, for someone who doesn't like comic books, has a Netflix queue surprisingly filled with Marvel and DC productions.
