FAQ About Student Payroll
Where do I pick up my paycheck or earnings statement?
Paychecks and earnings statements are distributed on payday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the information desk on the first floor of the Natali Student Center. Paychecks not picked up by the end of the current two-week period are mailed. Earnings statements are returned to the payroll office for filing.
Some students have federal income tax coming out of their pay and I don't. Why?
Generally, undergraduate students do not earn a large enough biweekly gross to warrant tax withholding, based on the income tax tables. However, you may request federal income tax withholding by completing a revised Tax Withholding Certificate-Form W-4, which is available in the University Payroll Office.
Some students have Social Security tax coming out of their pay and I don't. Why?
Beginning July 1, 2000, Section 218 Agreement of the Social Security Act provides for the exemption of this tax for students enrolled at least half-time during the academic year.
I have been working for four weeks and have not received a pay. Why?
Perhaps you did not complete the necessary payroll forms on time or at all, or perhaps your timesheet was not submitted to the Payroll Office. Once these problems have been resolved, you will receive all money due you. Click here for the Payroll Processing Schedule for 2010.
Am I permitted to work during break or anytime school is not in session?
Students are not permitted to work when school is not in session.
