California University of PA Scholarships

Please review the below information to learn about California University of Pennsylvania's institutional and endowed scholarships.

CAL U of PA Scholarships

Institutional Scholarships (Early Admission Acceptance Important)

Cal U offers highly selective and prestigious scholarship awards to undergraduate students during their acceptance process. These awards are very competitive. All students are encouraged to apply and be accepted for admission by December 1. Limited funding is available for these awards and funding is exhausted very quickly.

Board of Governor's Scholarships

  • This prestigious award is selected each year by our Office of Admission. These full tuition scholarships focus on providing educational opportunities to undergraduate Pennsylvania residents for various undergraduate student groups including but not limited to: minority groups, students in the performing arts and students with strong leadership and academic backgrounds.  These awards are renewable provided eligibility criteria are maintained. It is strongly encouraged for incoming undergraduate students to be accepted by December 1 for high priority full consideration of this award. Please contact the Office of Admission for more details at (724) 938-4404.

Cal U Institutional Scholarships:

  • The Office of Admission and the Office of Financial Aid award this institutional scholarship to select undergraduate Pennsylvania residents who perform well in the classroom, on their standardized tests and in class ranking. In addition, demonstrated need for financial assistance as determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required. It is strongly encouraged for incoming undergraduate students to be accepted by December 1 for high priority full consideration of this award. The awards are renewable as long as the student meets the minimum standards of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. All incoming students are automatically reviewed for this award and are notified of eligibility during the financial aid awarding notification process.

Presidential Scholarships:

  • The Presidential Scholarship at California University of Pennsylvania is one of the most prestigious academic scholarships we offer.  Selected each year by our Office of Admission, these awards are offered to incoming students who have excelled in the classroom, on their standardized test and in class ranking.  Awards typically range between $1000 and $4000 per year and are renewable for up to four years provided eligibility criteria are met. It is strongly encouraged for incoming undergraduate students to be accepted by December 1 for high priority full consideration of this award. Please contact the Office of Admission for more details at (724) 938-4404.

Endowed Scholarships (No Separate Scholarship Application)

California University of Pennsylvania is fortunate to offer scholarships that have been so generously provided by many alumni and friends of our university. Most of our scholarships require no separate application.

Our scholarship donors establish criteria for their awards and based on those criteria, we select the most deserving recipient. Criteria typically include such things as Undergraduate Students, Grade Point Average, SAT/ACT score, financial need, certain academic majors, etc.

In most cases you must also:

  • Be registered for at least 12 credit hours for each semester during the academic year for which you receive a scholarship
  • Make Satisfactory Academic Progress (not on financial aid suspension) as defined by the Financial Aid Office.

Review of these applications will begin in early Spring of each year with most awards being made by May 1.

  • All incoming students wishing to be considered for scholarships MUST have applied and been accepted to the University by March 15.
  • All students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after January 1 each year, but no later than March 15, in order to ensure full consideration.

The listing below represents those awards that are either made by the Financial Aid Office or another department on campus that require no additional application or involvement from the student. This list represents scholarships awarded in the previous academic year and are subjected to change as per the donor agreements. Please understand during any given year some of these scholarships may or may not be awarded depending on funding availability.
