Center for Civic Engagement

The Center for Civic Engagement’s mission is to inspire students, faculty, staff and alumni to leave a legacy by taking action to fulfill their civic and philanthropic responsibility while becoming agents of change through their experiences in the community, with peers, and amongst those in need.

The Center serves as a catalyst for students to connect with, build, and sustain meaningful service initiatives in partnership with communities surrounding California University.  Students enhance their learning and leadership development by engaging in educationally purposeful and diverse co-curricular experiences through AmeriCorps and other volunteer opportunities. Using the new Civic Engagement OrgSync System, students are encouraged to search for upcoming service projects.

Civic engagement is an integral component to the CalU for Life initiative as it works to help you build both character and careers. Being able to give selflessly of your time as well as your talents to others in need is not only a gift to them, but to yourself as well. Treasure is measured not only in what we give but also in what we provide to other charitable efforts in our community.
