For incoming freshman:
- Incoming freshman are bound by the Four Semester Residency Requirement. This requirement states that students are required to reside in University Housing for the first four semesters of their academic career at California University of Pennsylvania. On-campus Residence Halls and Vulcan Village are considered University Housing. Requests to be released from the Four Semester Residency Requirement must be put into writing to the Housing Office.
- Students must be fully accepted to the University before obtaining a Housing Contract.
- When returning the Housing Contract, please be sure to include the yellow emergency contact card, all three copies of the Housing Contract, Roommate Matching Survey, Food Service Contract, and the $300.00 administrative/application fee. - Once the student has been placed into a building, a copy of the contract indicating the tentative building assignment will be sent to the student's home address indicated on the contract. For transfer students:
- Transfer students are strongly encouraged to obtain residency either at Vulcan Village or in Off-Campus Housing during their first semester at California University of Pennsylvania.
For returning students:
- Students who wish to obtain housing in the Residence Halls for the following academic year must participate in the lottery.
- Students residing in the Residence Halls will receive information regarding the lottery around Thanksgiving in their Residence Hall mail boxes.
- After the specified deadline has passed, students will be selected at random from the completed lottery slips to fill the spaces allotted for upper-class students. Spaces not filled during the first lottery will be filled during the second lottery using the initial lottery entry slips.
- Students who are not chosen during the lotteries will be given the option to sign up on the waiting list. Students will be pulled from the waiting list in the order that they signed up as vacancies become available. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee students housing in the Residence Halls for the following academic year.
