When I Move In...

As a new tenant, there are a few things that you should do when you first move in.

•  Walk through the apartment/house and inspect every room to see if there are any problems (i.e. damages, cleanliness issues, etc).
• Document in writing any damages or other problems.
• Take photos of these damages or other problems for evidence that they existed before you moved in.
• Be proactive! – Get to know your neighbors by introducing yourself within the first week of living in your new apartment. Exchange phone numbers. By taking the initiative to create a rapport with your neighbors, you may alleviate potential issues that may arise in the future.
