Leave at Home

For health and safety concerns, the following items are prohibited in the residence halls.  Students who possess them will be asked to send them home, and may be subject to conduct action.

  • Air conditioners
  • Appliances with coils, open elements or hot oil
  • Candles
  • Contact (George Foreman type) grills
  • Dart boards
  • Double-sided foam tape, adhesive wall hooks, masking tape, duct tape, screws, nails, etc. may not be used on walls.  You will be billed for any damage
  • Electric heaters
  • Firearms/weapons (including BB and paintball guns; knives)
  • Fireworks
  • Halogen lamps
  • Hot plates
  • Incense
  • Permitted small appliances (i.e. iron, blow dryer, curling iron, coffeemaker, etc.) should be equipped with automatic shut-off feature
  • Pets (except small fish in a tank less than 10 gallons)
  • Possession of alcohol or illegal drugs on university property is prohibited
  • Potpourri burners
  • Water beds
