T.R.A.I.T. Referral FAQ

Who can make a T.R.A.I.T. referral?

Anyone who feels a student is a threat to themselves and/or the community can make a T.R.A.I.T. referral; including students, parents, faculty and staff, and other community members.

Inherent to the work of this team are concerns about the privacy of all involved!  The team members are extremely sensitive to these concerns and will ensure that the highest standards of confidentiality are upheld.

How do I know if it is a T.R.A.I.T. issue or if it is more appropriately handled by other campus resources?

You do not have to make this determination.  T.R.A.I.T. will do it for you.  The most critical step is that you report it.

Typically, behaviors that pose a threat to safety or that cause a significant community disruption qualify as a T.R.A.I.T. referral.

What happens to the person in the T.R.A.I.T. process?

If the team determines the person is appropriate for the T.R.A.I.T. process, he/she will be contacted and the concerns will be shared with them as well as referral to the appropriate resource to assist them through their crisis.
