Clarence "Bud" Brangard (Army)

Veteran's Club Member, Veteran's Affairs Work Study Student and Office of Veteran's Affairs Peer Mentor

(724) 938-4076

Hello and welcome to Cal U! My name is Clarence Brangard (Bud for short) and I am currently a Senior at California University of Pennsylvania. I am enrolled in the Liberal Studies program with a minor in Leadership. I was born and raised in southwestern Pennsylvania. In high school, I was unable to wait until graduation, I tested out and earned my GED for the purpose of starting a great career in the United States Army. Having the 2nd Ranger Battalion at my first active duty assignment and after barely suriving the training at North Ft. Lewis, Washington, the Ranger RIP program set the tone for the remainder of my career. In addition to the 2nd Ranger Battalion, I have served with the Blue Falcons of the 82nd Airborne Division (not to be confused with "A Blue Falcon"), served as an instructor at the Ranger Training Brigade and a few other phenomenal units from 1982-2003. In January 2003, I went to Iraq where I spent the next 4.5 years surviving and progressing up the business ladder. Working many roles on the battlefield, I ultimately advanced to Executive Director of an offshore-based American company and later on to the Country Manager of a successful Iraqi owned and solely operated company. With many military schools to speak of, my military affiliations, and leadership school results, rank the highest when completing personal achievement, primarily considering the quality of top-notched leaders around me. Primary Leadership Development Course (Leadership Award Winner), Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course (top 10%). Futhermore, and more applicable to your desired path, I am a certified California University of Pennsylvania Peer Mentor desiring to focus on our newly arriving military Veteran students. I have worked as a Veterans Affairs Work Study student for 3 semesters. I currently reside in Fayette City, Pa with my girlfriend of 3 years, Patti. School is our primary focus. I will graduate in December 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a minor in Leadership, hoping to regain honors of Summa Cum Laude, Insha'Allah. I look forward to assisting our newly arriving Veterans to California University of Pennsylvania. Striving to meet the goals of: ensuring our new students feel welcomed and valued (as my intro Cal U was when I first arrived) and ensuring assistance is readily available along with solutions to campus issues or concerns - only a contact away. The faculty of our awesome school (hoping for some money on my salesmanship skills) and my fellow brother / sisters-at-arms combines to provide superior support, ensuring your education goals are met and exceeded. Welcome to a new growth.
