Robert Prah

My name is Robert and I'm the Director of Veterans Affairs for California University of Pennsylvania. I have had the honor and privelege to work with Cal U students, faculty / staff, family members, leaders in the community and many more since 2007. Prior to my employment at Cal U, I served as a VA work study student in 2005-2006 in the Office of Veterans Affairs. In addition to my position at Cal U, I also serve as an Assistant Operations Officer with the Pennsylvania National Guard's 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard. I have been a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard since 2001. I have served in various positions including SBCT Assistant S7 in Iraq, Battalion Intelligence Officer, Company Commander in the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Battle Command Officer and many more. I am also very active as a Suicide Intervention Officer facilitator for the National Guard (through Living Works) as well as an A.C.E. (Ask, Care, Escort) facilitator for the Army's Suicide prevention program. I am very active in several organizations such as Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of American, Team Red, White & Blue and the American Legion. I reside in Westmoreland County with my wife Carolyn, who is also a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and is a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. My name is Staff Sgt. Jesse Maund and I'm the Cal U Career Counselor / Cadre with the Cal U Army R.O.T.C. I have been working at Cal U since 2012. In addition to serving as the Career Counselor, I serve with various community organizations such as the California American Legion Post 377, Student Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and several others. I have served in the Army National Guard for over 14 years and have experience as a scout in both HHC/1-110 IN & C/2-104 CAV. My most recent position was as a team leader in D/112 (AT), 56 SBCT. I look forward to working with all Veterans and future leaders of our United States through the Army R.O.T.C. program. My name is Joseph Bryan and I am a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. I am a graduate of Yough High School. I joined the United States Army in December 1997 and attended basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and also advanced individual training at Fort Lee, VA. I served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 13th, 2007 through October 14, 2008. After my service in Iraq, I was medically retired in October 2011. My major is Business Administration with a concentration in Management. I currently reside in California, PA. This is my fourth year as a VA work study student in the Office of Veterans Affairs. I am involved with the Veterans Club and Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. I have also assisted as cadre during the 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016 Cal U German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge testing. I look forward to assisting and supporting all Cal U of Pa Veterans.


Andrew Dillon (Army)

My name is Andrew Dillon and I am a junior at California University of Pennsylvania. I am a graduate of Downingtown East High School. I joined the United States Army in 2013 and attended basic training and field artillery school at Fort Sill, OK. I am currently in the 1-108FA, 56SBCT, in Hanover, PA. I'm using the MGIB-SR (Chapter 1606) benefit and my major is Criminal Justice with a concentration in Law. This is my first semester as a VA work-study student in the Office of Veterans Affairs. My name is Don Fike and I am a sophomore at California University of Pennsylvania. I graduated from West Greene High School in 2005. I joined the United States Marine Corps in 2007 and attended basic training in Parris Island.  I was stationed in Camp Pendleton California. I was discharged from the Marine Corps in 2011. After I was discharged, I worked at Emerald Coal Mine in Waynesburg, Pa for 3 years. I am using the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill and my major is in Geology. I currently reside in Carmichaels, PA. This is my second semester as a VA work study student in the office of Veterans Affairs.


Corey Gaffron (Army)

My name is Corey Gaffron and I am a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. I am a graduate of California Area High School. I joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 2012 and attended Basic Combat training at Fort Benning, GA and also Advanced Combat Training at Fort Leonardwood, MO. I joined ROTC Fall of 2012 and received a GRFD Scholarship in January of 2014 and earned the rank of Cadet. I am currently assigned to E/128 BSB, 2nd BCT, in Beaver Falls, PA. My major is Homeland Security in the Justice Studies program. I currently reside in California, PA. This is my 5th semester working as a VA Work Study. I am involved in the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, Veterans Club and the ROTC Club. I look forward to assisting and helping all Cal U of PA Veterans.

My name is Benjamin McCurdy and I am a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. I joined the United States Army Reserve in 2011. I completed BCT and AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I currently serve in the 915th Transportation Company in the United States Army Reserve. I currently live in California, PA. This is my fifth semester as a VA Work Study student in the Office of Veterans Affairs. I am currently a Cadet in the Cal U Army R.O.T.C. program and will graduate in May 2017 with a degree in Sports Management.

My name is Robert Milhoan and I am a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. I am currently majoring in Archaeology. I graduated from Washington High School in 2008 and then enlisted in the Army for five years as a Military Police Officer. I served a tour in Iraq (2010-2011) and South Korea (2012-2013). This is my second year as a VA Work Study student. I am part of the Vets Club, Archaeology Club, and the Medieval Club.

My name is Whitney Ptak and I am a sophomore at California University, majoring in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Criminology. I am a graduate of Brownsville Area High School. I joined the United States Army in October of 2013 and left for Fort Jackson, SC on July 30, 2014. I continued my training at Fort Lee, VA. I currently serve with the 252 Eng Co., in Johnstown, PA. This is my first semester working as a VA Work Study. I am a member if the Cal U Women’s soccer team. If you have any questions feel free to ask us! I look forward to helping all Cal U Veterans.

My name is Jason Rionda and I am a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. I am a graduate of Chartiers Valley High School. I joined the United States Navy in 2008 and attended basic training at the Great Lakes in Chicago and also attended MA training (police officer) at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. I was discharged from the Navy in June of 2012. I'm using the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill and my major is Justice Studies with a concentration in Criminology. I currently reside in Canonsburg, PA. This is my third semester as a VA Work Study student in the Office of Veterans Affairs. I am involved in the Veterans Club as well. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask us. My name is John Smith and I am a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. I am a graduate of Bethlehem Center High School. I joined the United States Army in 2012 and attended OSUT Training for Military Police at Fort Leonardwood in 2013. I currently serve with the 363rd Military Police Co. out of Grafton, WV. I use the Chapter 1606, MGIB-SR benefit. My major is Justice Studies with a concentration in Criminology and a minor in Forensic Anthropology. I currently live in Mather, PA. This is my first semester as a VA Work Study student in the Office of Veterans Affairs. I am a member of the Veterans Club and the Criminal Justice National Honors Society.
