Special Assistant to the President for Equal Employment and Educational Opportunity (EEEO)
John A. Burnett, Ph.D. is the Special Assistant to the President for EEEO (Equal Employment and Educational Opportunity) and manages the Office of Social Equity. Dr. Burnett's duties consist of directing all internal investigations regarding discrimination and sexual harassment, managing the Affirmative Action plan, Title IX (serves as the Title IX Coordinator), and handles preventative training for the campus community regarding discrimination, sexual harassment, and Title IX issues. He works with the System General Counsel as needed on EO/AA/Title IX issues.
Dr. Burnett in 1985 started working with local and state government in regard to the enforcement of State and Federal anti-discrimination laws concerning employment and housing. In higher education, he has worked as an adjunct instructor in public and private colleges teaching American History. Prior to coming to California University of Pennsylvania, he worked at the University of Nevada, Reno as the Director of EO/AA and Texas A&M University, Kingsville as the Director of Compliance.
Dr. Burnett earned his B.S. degree in Financial Management from Florida Southern College in 1984 and a Masters in Human Resource Management from the University of North Florida in 1987. Additionally, Dr. Burnett completed his Ph.D. in History from Florida State University in 2001. His dissertation topic was on The Life and Career of Methodist Bishop Edward J. Pendergrass, 1900-1995.
