NEW... Round II... Professional Development in Support of Collaborative Academic Grants from PASSHE FPDC -

The Council has received an additional $120,000 from the Office of the Chancellor to undertake a new initiative; that is, faculty professional development that is needed to undertake collaborative academic programs or delivery of programs in alternative learning formats.  The Collaborative Academic Grants are generally intended to provide professional growth opportunities for individual faculty, faculty pairs, teams or groups.

The funds are targeted for 1) professional development that is required for collaborative academic program/curriculum development to deliver courses using alternative formats of learning and 2) for individual faculty with little or no experience in alternative formats, to develop their skills and knowledge on how to deliver programs in an alternative format (for example, receiving specific training on content management systems, seeking out effective practices at other universities, or solving unique problems such as online science labs). There will be a priority for joint programs with at least two universities and a priority for projects involving academic programs scheduled for periodic review as of December 2013.

The funds are intended to lead to the following potential long-term (post-grant) outcomes:

  1. Innovative courses and distance learning programs that may bring new student populations to the University;
  2. Collaborative, multi-university distance or on-line classes in programs that are facing enrollment challenges;
  3. Innovative multi-university shared content, such as on-line modules suitable for any class/course.
  • Each PASSHE University is invited to submit 2 proposals.
  • Request for Proposal
  • Proposal & Routing Sheet must be received by the Office of Grants and Contracts by 12:00 pm (noon) on Monday, September 5, 2011

    Faculty authors submitting a proposal will have the opportunity to have their proposal reviewed by a Quality Circle Review (QCR) team based on the actual review system to identify areas of the proposal that can be improved and eliminate possible errors.  Applicants participating in the QCR will have the opportunity to revise and improve their proposal prior to final submission.
