Strategic Plan 2009 - 2012

The strategic plan sets the University’s course for the coming years. This current “roadmap” for the future of Cal U was formally adopted by the University’s Council of Trustees at its meeting on June 3, 2009.

Strategic Plan 2009-2012 represents hundreds of hours of thoughtful discussion and debate. Developed during a yearlong process that encouraged participation by all members of the University community, it reflects the input of faculty and staff.

In addition to the Trustees, the document has been approved by the University Forum, a governance body founded in 2000 whose members include faculty, staff, students and alumni.

This strategic plan outlines eight broad goals for the University. Seven were retained from the 2005-2008 plan, with minor editing of Goal Four, which focuses on continuous improvement. An eighth goal, encouraging civic engagement, has been added.

The touchstones for this strategic plan are unwavering, however. Its goals are closely aligned with the University Mission of “building character, building careers,” and each of its objectives is rooted in the University Mission Statement, and in Cal U’s Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
