Jon Kallis joined Cal U in 2005 as part of Global Online. During his time there, Cal U’s Global Online was ranked best in the nation by the SR Education Group. He serves as Cal U’s lead Instructional Designer and is the administrator of the Learming Management System, currently Desire2Learn (D2L). He is certified in Quality Matters, a national benchmark for online course design.
Mr. Kallis works directly with faculty to integrate technology into web-based instruction based on sound pedagogical techniques, instructional strategies, ADA section 508 compliance, and instructional philosophies, all while utilizing various instructional design models. He reviews delivery needs for their online course(s) and offers designs and solutions to meet their requirements. This includes identifying alternatives to existing content/procedures, equipment recommendations, estimates of any additional costs the online program may need to explore to deliver the solutions, and customization of the course shell within the parameters of the learning management system.
As a proponent of collaboration, Kallis works with many other institutions within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to facilitate teaching online certification courses for faculty. In addition, he continues to develop and deliver training content and workshops for Cal U faculty and strives to remain up-to-date on current technology trends in higher education.
Holding a master’s degree in multimedia technology, he is also an active adjunct faculty member for the Graphics and Multimedia Program in the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology here at Cal U. Since 2010, he has taught in the areas of Desktop Publishing and Layout and Design.
