Activities And Events
We provide opportunities for parents to be engaged in the Cal U community: by becoming a member of the Parent Leadership Council and by attending activities, both on campus and locally. We encourage you to participate — you'll find many rewards!
Move - In Day Family Picnic
The Move-In Day Family Picnic is held during Move-In day activities. Parents and students are encouraged to stop by the picnic for lunch, fun, and giveaways after they have moved into their residence hall.
This is a great time for family photos with students, for the students to get acquainted with their roommate, and for parents to meet other Cal U parents.
Information booths from various University departments are also set up at the picnic to answer any last minute question.
We hope to see you there!!!! Look for your invitation and registration information in the mail!!!

Career Service and Internship Partnering Opportunities
Share Your Career Knowledge with Cal U Students and Alumni
When exploring career options and making career decisions, it is often most helpful for students and job-seeking alumni to hear the career paths and experiences of others, and to gain hands-on experience in a career field of interest.
We invite you to participate in our career programs to share information about your career field and provide career opportunities to assist Cal U students and job seeking alumni as they explore career options. Parents are vital to the success of these programs! We hope that your participation will not only benefit your own Cal U student, but will be a personally rewarding experience for you as well. In addition, your company or organization can benefit!
If you have questions or would like to discuss these programs in more detail, please contact Rhonda Gifford, Director of Career Services, at 724-938-1510 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are many ways you can get involved:
□ Volunteer for the online Cal U Career Network
Students and job seeking alumni will contact you initially via LinkedIn (online professional network) to introduce themselves and ask you a few questions about your career or the organization with which you work. Simply create a profile on www.linkedin.com, and search for and join the group “Cal U Career Network."
□ Become a Job Shadow Experience Program Sponsor
Students will be matched with you and spend time with you at your workplace – usually between one to five days – to get a realistic view of a typical day on the job.
□ Hire a Cooperative Education (Co-op) student, intern or graduate in your organization
You don’t have to be the President of your organization! Just let us know the appropriate human resources or other contact person within your organization, and we can contact them to advertise any position openings and to refer qualified candidates.
□ Participate in a career networking event
Network, share career information and find talented Cal U students and job-seeking alumni for your company or organization at our career networking events, including our Mock Networking Reception/Etiquette Dinner or industry-specific events.
Whether you're looking to fill a co-op position, internship or full-time position, Cal U can offer you quality candidates. We have a variety of ways to connect with our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents, including online position postings, networking events, job shadowing opportunities, on-campus recruiting, job and internship fairs, class presentations, and company visits. Employers have been impressed with the strong work ethic and professionalism of our graduates and we look forward to helping you connect with them.
