END OF SEMESTER PREPARATIONS

As students are finishing the last couple of weeks of the semester, they are getting very busy with projects, papers, and finals. Students should carefully review the Final Exam Schedule to ensure they know the day and times of their final exams. Parents may also use this information to discuss and adequately plan for their student’s home arrival. Residence halls will close on Friday, December 13, at 8 pm. All residence hall students must check out of their residence halls upon completing their last final exam. If a student needs to stay in the hall after this date to make up a final exam, he/she must obtain a note from the professor and submit it to their Residence Hall Director. The exceptions are graduating seniors and those involved with Commencement such as band, choir etc.  Any student who cannot be out of a residence hall must see their Residence Hall Director no later than Wednesday, December 4, by 3 pm.

FINAL GRADES

Final grades will be available to students in VIP beginning Wednesday, December 18. Any parent whose student has authorized proxy access to grade information, and has also set up a Parent/Guest Portal account, may view final grades in the Parent/Guest Portal. Note: If a grade is not posted, a student should contact the instructor for the course.

IS MY STUDENT IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING?

Students are notified of their academic standing at the end of each academic term. Those who maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 or above have earned Good Academic Standing. Due to the serious consequences that can follow from falling below Good Academic Standing, it is important that students and parents understand the policy and related student responsibilities. The Office of Academic Success offers various Student Success Programs.  Learn more about Academic Standing

5 THINGS TO DO IF YOUR STUDENT MISSES THE MARK

The end of the semester is just around the corner. Students will be taking their exams soon, and ultimately receiving their final grades. While I share your hope for the very best of outcomes, it isn’t always the case. Perhaps you will find yourself in the difficult position of having to converse with your student about his/her academic progress or lack thereof. Read more from Dr. Engstrom
