Biography

Lord Stanley's Cup was crafted out of silver and nickel alloy in Sheffield, England and presented for the first time in 1893.

It tips the scales at 35 pounds, stands three feet tall, and is named in honor for its first owner, Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley, Lord Stanley of Preston.

The National Hockey League first presented the Stanley Cup as the ultimate prize in 1927, and as the oldest and greatest trophy in professional sports, the rest as they say, is history.
