The Center for Volunteer Programs and Service Learning are collecting items for the “Birthday in a Bag” program. This program is to benefit Beverly’s Birthdays, a non-profit organization that provides birthday parties for children experiencing homelessness and families in-need.

We are reaching out to faculty, staff, students, and clubs to take part in this program. Amongst yourselves or as a group, you can put together a birthday bag to donate a party to a child. The minimum requirements for a bag are a box of cake mix, one tub of icing, plastic silverware, plates, napkins, a tablecloth, and candles. Additionally, you may add party hats, streamers, balloons, and anything else you see fit for a child’s birthday party. Price range of a birthday bag is $8 to $15. Financial donations can also be dropped off in the Center for Volunteer Programs and Service Learning, Natali Student Center Room 119, and we will put the bags together with that money on your behalf.

Birthday in a Bag will be running now through the end of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week on Friday, November 17th. For more information about Beverly’s Birthdays, visit their website at beverlysbirthdays.org. Any questions on Birthday in a Bag, feel free to contact us at volunteer@calu.edu.
