Spring Break and Travel Plans are Upcoming!

Be Aware of the Countries Currently Affected by the Zika Virus!

The Countries Affected are:

Aruba; Barbados; Bonaire; Curacao; Dominican Republic; Guadeloupe; Haiti; Jamaica; Martinique; the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory; Saint Martin; Trinidad and Tobago; U.S. Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, American Samoa, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Suriname, Venezuela.

Some Implications about the Zika Virus:

·         Travelers who are pregnant or might become pregnant should postpone their travel, if at all possible, to areas with Zika transmission

·         Travelers need to be aware of mosquito bite prevention. Preventative measures provided by the CDC can be found at the following link:

·         Aedes species mosquitos can bite during the daytime, as well as dawn and dusk

·         Until more is known about the sexual transmission of Zika virus, students returning from Zika affected areas are recommended to use condoms for all sexual contact
