HEALTHY MONDAY!

Vivacious Vegan

Have you made the decision to ditch the meat? Still aren’t sure if it’s healthy? Here are some tips to see if going vegan if right for you.

What is a vegan???

A vegan is someone who doesn’t eat any animal products including meat (red meat, poultry and seafood), eggs and dairy. They also refrain from wearing any type of clothing made from animals and products that have been tested on animals. Some people also refrain from the use of honey.

Is a vegan diet healthy??

Just as with any other diet regimen, it is important to make sure that you are getting all of the proper nutrients that your body needs. A vegan diet consists of healthy foods including fruits, vegetables, plenty of leafy greens, whole grain products, nuts, seeds, and legumes. It is also possible for vegans to get enough protein. Almost all foods provide some sort of protein. You can get plenty of protein without eating meat as long as your calorie intake is sufficient.

Is it hard to stick to?

Starting out may be difficult for most omnivores but it is important to take small steps. Any reduction you can make is a positive change. All vegans must choose where to draw the line. It’s essential to make the changes that YOU are comfortable with.

There are a variety of resources available to help you on your journey to veganism. Here are a few:
