Activists in Actions: Empowering and Advocating for Yourself and Others

April 2, 2013 from 11:00 am-12:15 pm in Duda 210

It’s important to feel EMPOWERED. It’s important to be an ADVOCATE. There are many ways to be both an empowered and an advocate of yourself and others. It’s about being inspired to want to change something, and then you advocate for that change. It can be anything from empowering yourself for a better future, then advocating by finishing college. You can be inspired to help animals in shelters, so you start volunteering at a local shelter. It’s important to not only inspire others, but also yourself. Join Activist Club and Women’s Studies for Activists in Action: Empowering and Advocating for Yourself and Others to discuss these topics.

The Activist Club and the Women’s Studies Program is sponsoring this event to discuss the importance of being your own advocate and empowering yourself and those around you. The Activist Club will discuss activism, empowering yourself and others, and advocating for yourself and others around you. There will be several breakout educational and/or active workshops.

We will be talking about advocating for your future careers and empowering yourself through knowledge on how to build a dynamic resume, interview tips, etc.  Options @ Cal U will be breaking labels and empowering people to look beyond labels and stereotypes. There will also be other workshops that will be participatory and/or educational.
