Spring is in the air! With Spring inevitably comes Spring Cleaning. Spring is the perfect time of year to get organized both at home and in the digital world too.

Here are some tips for Spring Cleaning:

-Delete unneeded and unwanted Emails, Data, and Contacts. An example of unneeded data would be data that falls outside of the timeframes defined in the University Records Retention Policy.

-Unsubscribe from unwanted mailing lists and newsletters.

-Be cautious about how much personal information you provide on social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.

-Learn about and use the privacy settings on social networks.

-Use and maintain anti-virus software. Anti-virus software recognizes most known viruses and protects your computer against them, so you may be able to detect and remove the virus before it can do any damage.

-Use strong passwords- Protect your accounts with passwords that cannot easily be guessed.

-Make sure that your system has the latest operating system updates.
